Welcome

This page is the start of the Haley Family Web Page. More will come shortly as Karen and I find more time to add to the site.

News and Updates:

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007 - Been busy, but have had a virus hit some friends that is not showing up when you search with Google. The process running is called sslms.exe and is a worm. Here is a link for information that I believe is linked to the sslms.exe from Symantec.com. Outside of working, Karen and I have all been busy with the boys. I need to find time to rebuild my server to fix a few things, and add some new hardware to it. Putting my family first is why I have been slow in updating this site and the pictures on it of us all.

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005 - It has been a long time since I have had an opportunity to update this page. BIG NEWS - Karen and I are parents a second time with our latest addition to the family. Evan James Haley has joined us as of Tuesday December 27th, 2005. Born at 4:12 PM he weighs in at 7 pounds, 1 ounce, with a total length of 20 inches. Pictures have been added for all to see here in the new album for Evan James.

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004 - Well for those of you who did not know, I was unemployed for five months, but I have landed a new job I started last week at Norstan. On the bright side, that did leave me nine weeks to spend with my new son Sean and help Karen on her maternity leave. Karen and I have repainted the living room to have only one wall color instead of the five we had when we moved in. I have also moved TheHaleyHouse.com to a new server that should provide some better performance along with the DSL speed upgrade Frontier and VISI.com have provided me for free. I am still getting everything working with my new server as it's running SUSE instead of RedHat as on my old one. I am also running a second domain again for another friend, Kyle, for his wedding, but anything you see there is all his creation.

Friday, March 12th, 2004 - Karen and I have been busy preparing for our first child to arrive and have been distracted from many of the things we want to do. Since we have move in to our house, we have painted two bedrooms and one bathroom. We have our sights on the living room next as there are five shades of tan in there. The nursery is one of the bedrooms that we painted, and is ready for our first child.

Thursday, Decemer 4th, 2003 - The holidays are almost here, and the turkey has already been eaten. Karen is doing well, and so am I, Jim. We have setup our Christmas tree already, and we celebrated St. Nick's last weekend. St. Nick's is a holiday that is not often celebrated in the Twin Cities, but it is one that I grew up with in Milwaukee, so Karen and I have agreed to continue it. After all, it was the day that I proposed to her on two years ago....
Also, I finally got around to updating the Gallery package on my little server today that runs our photo albums. The interface is a lot more snazzy and is suppose to run faster. Having more than a p166 might help and a DSL line that won't kack on me once a week. I have yet to track down what is causing my interference.
Lastly, I also am no longer hosting www.Nitrite.net for my friend Tobin. Tobin found a hosting company in Canada that will host his site for a low price, and not have to worry about the availability.

We are in our new house as of 7/13/2003, and have our phone as of 7/17/2003 and finally got the DSL up as of 7/24/2003. Lack of communication and a faulty port on the DSLAM ended up delaying the DSL until today. VISI.com was great at dealing with this, and Frontier was like most Telcos, but they got it done. I now have three Speedstream DSL modems that I have no intension of using as well. My apologies to Tobin, Kyle, and everyone else for having the DSL be down for nine days instead of one hour. Both domains are back up and running.

The house that we have bought can be seen here.

Photo albums are now available for all to see.

Our wedding was great and we have only received complements about all we had done. The original wedding web page and photos that we have received can still be seen. It's not the most visually appealing, but it was functional.

There are how-to directions I have made and some links to software I find very useful too.

Webmail access for people that have an email address at thehaleyhouse.com.

My little pentium 166mmx notebook computer is hosting this site, as well as www.Nitrite.net for my friend Tobin in Hawaii. More will appear on Tobin's site when I get the VPN working again for him.

I know that MRTG does not compare to what I do at work for performance monitoring, but I can use MRTG for free. Besides, who else but myself care how much of my DSL link I utilize.

Here are a few quick things that I find useful such as streaming MP3s
